"Natural Law" was inspired by a tree growing close to my home. This tree had significance too, because of a children's book I had illustrated.
Three weeks after completing this painting, I had a profound experience. I was given three crows from three different people to rehabilitate. One of the crows, named Ebony, showed me so much. For as much as he was dependent on me for food he reminded me often that he was a free spirit and he was not owned. I felt privileged to have seen his world as he flew with me when I went for walks and bike rides. According to Native Legend, Crow is the keeper of sacred law and has the ability to see past, present and future simultaneously and also is the omen of change.
